I froze on the spot.
At his feet was a pile of cigarette butts, evidence that he’d been there for quite some time.
When he saw me, Liam immediately stubbed out his cigarette and walked straight over.
“Diana, I…I know I was wrong. I finally realize how ridiculous I’ve been. Can you give me another chance? I promise I’ll change. I’ll never have anything to do with Sharon again. I’ve already deleted her from my life. No matter how much she begs, I won’t respond. Let’s get back together!”
He grabbed my shoulders tightly. “I know you’re only with my uncle out of spite. You two haven’t even slept together yet. I know deep down, you still care about me!”
A wave of disgust rolled through me. I couldn’t believe he’d stoop so low to dig into something like that.

“What? Was I that embarrassing to you?” I stared at him. “Do you know what that meant to me? You hurt me from the very beginning, Liam.”
I pulled out my phone and held it up to him.
“Sigmund and I have only met three times, yet the company’s official page features me, and his social media is filled with my photos. I’m not saying he’s madly in love with me, but at least he’s not afraid to show that I matter to him. He’s willing to acknowledge me, Liam. And, in that alone, you’ll never measure up to him.”
