Chapter 4
Liam stared at me, completely baffled. “Diana, what’s wrong with you? Stop acting crazy and come with me. Didn’t you come here today to apologize?”
He reached out and grabbed my wrist. “Sharon is outside right now. Let’s go!”
Just as I was about to pull away, another hand appeared out of nowhere, firmly gripping his wrist. “Let go!” Liam turned around and froze when he saw Sigmund. “Uncle?”
“I said, let go!” Sigmund’s voice was cold, and with a sharp twist, Liam winced in pain and released his grip.
Taking the opportunity, I quickly stepped to Sigmund’s side, pouting dramatically. “Honey, he yelled at me and even grabbed me! Look at this!”
I pressed my fingers lightly against my wrist, revealing a red mark.
Sigmund’s expression immediately darkened.
Liam was dumbfounded. “What did you just call him? Honey?”
“I’ve already told you,” I said smugly. “I’m your aunt–in–law right now. Shouldn’t you kneel and apologize to me?”
Liam stared at me, his eyes wide with disbelief. “What are you talking about?‘
His gaze flicked between Sigmund and me, his voice rising “This can’t be true! You two are married?”
I rolled my eyes. “Is there a problem? You ran off to find Sharon, so I found someone better. Honestly, you’re such an idiot, putting the Hopkins family’s reputation at risk. Did you really think I’d wait around for you?”
Sigmund nodded firmly. “That’s right. Liam, it’s time to face the consequences. If it hadn’t been for Diana yesterday, the Hopkins family would’ve been humiliated. Now, go face your punishment!”
Liam froze, his expression twisting with fury. “This is ridiculous! Diana, come with me right now!”
“Who gave you permission to call your aunt by her name?” Sigmund’s voice grew sharp as he ordered, “Men, take him out!”
At Sigmund’s command, several bodyguards entered the room. They covered Liam’s mouth and dragged him off to receive his punishment, leaving the room in tense silence.
I wasn’t sure how Liam’s parents eventually got involved, but by lunchtime, he showed up at the table looking utterly defeated.
William glanced at him and let out a cold scoff. “I’ve told you time and time again to learn to see the bigger picture and prioritize what truly matters. Do you realize your mistake?”
Liam nodded stiffly, his voice barely audible. “Yes… I understand.”
His bloodshot eyes turned toward me, and I clenched my fists.
This idiot finally felt regret. But it was already too late.
