His bloodshot eyes turned toward me, and I clenched my fists.
This idiot finally felt regret. But it was already too late.
After everything I’d endured over the years, caught between him and Sharon, this was barely punishment. If anything, he was getting off easy.
Before I could say anything, Sigmund spoke in a low, commanding voice. “Since you understand, pour a cup of tea and apologize to your aunt.”

Chapter 4
Inearly choked on my food.
Was Sigmund doing this on purpose? He actually stood up for me? For a moment, I didn’t even know whether to thank him.
Liam sat frozen, glaring at me without moving. Sigmund’s patience snapped as he slammed his cup down on the table. “What? My word doesn’t count anymore?”
Liam flinched, quickly grabbing a teacup.
After a long, awkward silence, he finally muttered through gritted teeth, “Aunt… I’m sorry.”
I smiled, taking the cup from him and finishing the tea in one gulp. “Apology accepted. But next time, use your head. If that little Hall girl acts up again, just recommend she see a doctor. Don’t let her drag you down with her.”
I set the cup down with a smirk. “Not to nag, but the Hopkins family doesn’t exactly welcome a mentally unsound woman into the family.”
Jasmine’s expression tightened, while Liam’s face darkened to the point it looked like a storm was brewing
I, on the other hand, felt perfectly satisfied.
Sharon wasn’t just prone to her dramatic suicidal threats, she had a history of depression too. That alone was enough to ensure she’d never be welcomed into the Hopkins family.
Of course, if the Hopkins family didn’t mind embarrassing themselves, I wouldn’t object.
But Jasmine? She would never allow it.
She shot Liam a sharp glare, and he lowered his head in silence, saying nothing more.
