Melanie pouted and wriggled intentionally in his arms. Ezra’s breath grew heavier, a flicker of desire flashing in his eyes as his
voice became huskier. “Are you sure you want to keep doing this?”
But Melanie didn’t care about the stares from the others. She threw aside her dignity and continued to twist in his hold,
determined to prove her place in Ezra’s heart.
Unable to resist any longer, Ezra took her into the car with him.
The entire afternoon turned into one of intimacy, and when it was over, Ezra quickly dressed and turned away, avoiding even a
glance at Melanie.
Given that Melanie had fallen from the slope, there was no way she wouldn’t have injuries. But Ezra showed no concern for her
well–being. As her wounds began to bleed, Ezra made no move to check on her.
Seeing his cold demeanor, Melanie felt an emptiness in her chest. Still, she forced a soft, seductive tone. “Ezra, what do you say we go to your place tonight? You can apply more medicine for me, and we can stay in the guest room. I’m sure Shermaine won’t
find out”
Before she could finish, Ezra’s hand shot out, gripping her throat as he glared at her with ice–cold fury in his eyes. “You have no right to speak her name like that. And didn’t I tell you? Don’t ever mention going to my house again.”

Fear gripped Melanie, and she began to cry while nodding meekly. “I–I’m sorry, I won’t bring it up again.”
Only then did Ezra release her.
Inside, he was seething with frustration. He had just checked his phone and saw that it was already late, yet Shermaine hadn’t sent him a single message. He had to go back and see what was going on.
Rushing home, he barged through the door while calling out Shermaine’s name, eager to find her.
But the silence that greeted him was deafening. The house was pitch dark, with no lights on at all.
A wave of panic washed over Ezra. He rushed through the house, calling her name, but there was no answer.
He collapsed onto the couch, shaking as he dialed her number, his hands trembling. A mechanical voice told him the number was no longer active.
His heart clenched, as if a heavy hand had seized it. He was gasping for air, feeling like he was running through a narrow tunnel,
desperately searching for a way out.
He tried everything he could think of to reach Shermaine, but it was as if she had vanished into thin air.
Sweat began to bead on his back, his face pale with worry. He tried to convince himself it was just jealousy, that she had stormed
off, and that with his abilities, finding her would be no trouble at all.
But just as he looked up, his gaze landed on the gift box Shermaine had left on the table.
