This was the first time Shermaine had ever seen Ezra in such a pitiful state.
He had thrown his dignity in the dirt, not caring at all about his reputation.
In the past, seeing him like this might have stirred some sympathy in her, but now, her heart was as calm as still water.
Ezra’s actions had created a media frenzy, and the news outlets didn’t hold back from branding him as a man who had turned
over a new leaf–a hopeless romantic yearning for redemption.
Eddie and Nikki were engrossed in watching the news on TV.
Nikki clicked her tongue. “Now he regrets it, but why didn’t he think of that when he was enjoying himself back then?”
Eddie frowned and lightly tapped Nikki on the forehead
“Do you even know what you’re talking about?”
Nikki yelped in mock pain, clutching her head and scooting closer to Shermaine. “Hey, we’re all adults here. What’s wrong with
saying that?”
Suddenly, Nikki’s eyes widened as if struck by a thought. She stared at Shermaine, surprised.
“Shermaine… You and his ex–wife are both named Shermaine. What a coincidence. Or are you-”
“I don’t know him.” Shermaine shook her head, cutting Nikki off before she could voice her thoughts. “Besides, that man is one of Judgeton’s wealthiest. If I were his wife, why would I be here doing this?” Shermaine remarked, her voice cool and unbothered.
“It’s just a coincidence.”
As she spoke, her gaze met Eddie’s, and she caught the brief flash of concern in his eyes.
Shermaine’s heart skipped a beat. She quickly turned her head, avoiding his stare.
Eddie didn’t press her further, though his silence felt almost like an unspoken understanding
At that moment, the door opened, and Warren entered with a cheerful grin.
