Seven years into our marriage 14

I’d always believed in having a clear beginning and end. Our relationship began with an embrace, and it would end the same way

After he left, I immediately called the divorce lawyer I had already contacted

Once the divorce papers were printed, I listed the house on a secondhand property website

Aside from our marriage certificate, the only thing we shared was this house, which was considered joint property

A divorce agreement with a 50/50 split of the assets was only fair

Once everything was done, I started packing my things

In the 1,500squarefoot apartment, there was little that belonged solely to me. Most of it was filled with memories from the

seven years we spent together

I didn’t want to take any of it with me

It was already late, so I booked a room at the hotel downstairs

As I handed my ID to the receptionist, the young woman glanced at the wedding photo I kept in my wallet

After a long hesitation, she finally asked, Is the man in this photo your husband?”

I nodded slowly, then shook my head. He used to be, but not anymore.”

She sighed in relief, quickly turned away from the security cameras, and whispered, That guy isn’t any good. He’s brought another woman here late at night several times. She clung to him like a snakehe’s definitely not a decent person. I hope you’re not too sad about it. Anyway, congratulations on getting out of this mess.”

I smiled faintly, thanked her, and casually tore up the photo before throwing the pieces in the trash. I walked to the elevator, feeling lighter, and had a peaceful night’s sleep

The next morning, I woke up naturally, and my phone was flooded with dozens of missed calls from Jason

I deleted his number and blocked him without hesitation, then fell back into a deep sleep

I returned to my parentshouse and told them I had asked for a divorce from Jason. They didn’t ask any questions. Instead, they made me a delicious meal and remarked that I had lost weight

Later that evening, Jason’s rarely used social media account, which I had long since ignored, started flooding my feed with posts
