Chapter 6
Matthew cast a cold, indifferent glance at her. “Did you even think about the consequences of your actions?”
“I know I was wrong. I won’t do it again, I swear,” Megan pleaded, her voice filled with desperation.
She crawled over to Patrick and grabbed at the edge of his coat.
“Patrick, you were always the one who cared about me most, weren’t you? You wouldn’t let them throw me out of the family, would you?”
Patrick pulled away from her and yanked his coat from her grasp. He kept his distance, his expression unreadable.
Having reached the limit of his patience, David called for the house steward.
“Get her out of here,” he ordered.
Megan was dragged outside the villa and unceremoniously thrown to the ground.
Slowly, she rose to her feet, brushing off the dust, her eyes dark with fury.
“Hah, you all said you’d always protect me, that you’d be my shield no matter what! Now, look at you–all lies, every word! What are a few rumors on the internet? With all the power the Brosnans have, couldn’t you make them disappear?
“I only cut the ropes. No one died. Does that really warrant this?”
Each word she spat was laced with bitterness and resentment but no one listened. Only David, his face hard as stone, motioned
for the steward to remove her from the villa grounds.
And so, Megan was cast out of the Brosnan family.
Now, there were only ten days left in the mandatory cooling–off period before the divorce.
Matthew and Patrick eventually came to find us.
They were filled with remorse and pleaded for forgiveness. They begged for Sarah and I not to proceed with the divorce.
“Please, let’s not get divorced. Megan has already been cast out of the family. No one will interfere with us anymore,” Matthew
