I got up carefully so as not to wake him.
“You’re up?” Anthony suddenly opened his eyes, his voice groggy with sleep.
I giggled. “Did I wake you up?”
“No, I just wanted to see you again as soon as possible.” He pulled me into his arms, pressing his forehead against mine.
My heart felt like it was full of honey. I leaned into his embrace, listening to his powerful heartbeat.
“What do you want to eat for breakfast?” he asked. “I’ll make it for you.”
“I’ll eat anything you make,” I said sweetly.
“Then I’ll make all your favorites,” Anthony said with a chuckle.
After breakfast, he insisted on cleaning up and refused to let me help. “You can just rest. I’ll handle it.”
I sat on the couch, watching as he busied about. So this was my happily ever after.
