hall.
A slight breeze blew past my face. There was a faint floral scent in the air. I took a deep breath, trying to blow away all the clouds.
of my past.
When I walked out of the airport, I saw Charlotte standing not far away, waving at me. She was wearing a pink dress, looking
bright and lively.
A tall man stood next to her, wearing a simple white shirt and black slacks. He looked neat and tidy.
Charlotte rushed up to me and enveloped me in a bear hug. “Marilyn, welcome to your new city!”
Her voice was filled with joy. I hugged her back with a smile, feeling warm inside.
“Here, let me introduce you!” Charlotte let go of me and pointed at the man beside her. “This is my friend, Anthony Jameson.
He’s the manager of your branch company! He may be young, but he’s very capable. He’s already the leader of a huge team.”
I took my first good look at Anthony. His handsome features belied a self–confident glow. His gaze was bright, and his lips curved
into a friendly smile.

Chapter 3
“Nice to meet you. I’m Anthony.” He offered me his hand, his voice gentle but powerful.
“I’m Marilyn. The pleasure is mine.” I shook his hand.
His hand was big and warm. The moment I touched him, my heart seemed to skip a beat.
“Pass me your luggage.” Anthony took my luggage as though it was natural, his movements open and graceful.
“Thanks.” I smiled a little awkwardly. Anthony returned my smile with a considerate look in his eyes.
The three of us got into a cab. Charlotte took the passenger seat while Anthony and I sat at the back.
“How are you feeling? Tired?” Charlotte turned around and asked me concernedly.
“I’m alright, not too tired.” I smiled. “Just a bit hungry.”

“I knew you’d be starving!” Charlotte took a bun out of her bag and handed it to me. “Have this for now. I’ll bring you to eat
something good later.”
I took the bun, tore open the wrapping, and began eating. The sweetness of the cream permeated through my mouth.
“Are you busy later, Anthony? Wanna join us for a meal?” Charlotte turned to Anthony.
“I’d be happy to.” Anthony nodded.
Throughout the journey, Charlotte kept the atmosphere lively. She told me interesting stories about the city and occasionally
teased Anthony.
Instead of getting mad, Anthony just listened on with a smile and occasionally gave her some short replies.
“By the way, Marilyn, what do you plan to do after this?” Charlotte asked suddenly.
“I’m thinking of spending a few days to adapt to this place before starting work,” I said.
