Chapter 12
Chapter 12
“What’s wrong, Ed?” Sharon sat up and hugged him around the walst from behind.
Edward pushed her hands off and said hoarsely, “Sorry, I overstepped just now. Get some rest.
With that, he hurriedly got out of bed and fled the scene.
“Ed! Ed!” she called out hurriedly and followed him. But when she opened the door, the hallway was already empty.
She bit her lower lip, nails digging into the doorframe as her eyes filled with resentment.
In the parking lot, Edward got into his car, his expression dazed and unfocused. He was still shaken by what had happened earlier. He buried his head in his hands, full of regret.
Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the newly bought phone lying on the passenger seat. His gaze flickered away almost guiltily.
Meanwhile, Sharon closed the door and went to the bathroom. In the mirror, she saw the hickeys on her neck. smiled deviously as she snapped a photo and sent it out.

It was already 11:00 pm when Edward got home. He entered the elevator, holding the new phone.
He figured that Macie must be waiting for him with some warm, hearty food to help his hangover. She had always done that in the past, no matter how late he returned home.
At that thought, he remembered how Macie had given him attitude and left home yesterday. He scoffed coldly and unlocked the door.
Unlike his expectations, the door opened up to a cold, dark living room. Even the silence in the kitchen was unnaturally still.
Without even changing his shoes, Edward rushed to the guest bedroom. The door was still standing ajar, and the bed was untouched.
Macie hadn’t come home at all.
“You’ve got some nerve, Macie Smith. You might as well just fuck right off!” Edward roared, livid. The veins on his arms popped as he crushed the phone box he was holding.
He threw the box onto the ground in the guest bedroom and returned to his room to shower and change.
When he came out, he dried his hair while dialing the same number repeatedly. However, no one picked up.
After dozens of missed calls, his patience finally ran out. His expression darkened, eyes flashing dangerously.
“Nathan, find someone for me,” he commanded darkly over the phone.
Nathan, who was tasked with a personal request from his boss in the middle of the night, looked at the name and number Edward had sent him. He was stunned.
Wasn’t this Edward’s wife?

Chapter 12
As Edward’s personal assistant, he was one of the only people who knew that Edward was married. It was just never made public.
He had met Edward’s wife a few times before, mainly while delivering and picking up documents for Edward, His impression of her was that she was beautiful and gentle.
But Edward’s tone made him think that he was being asked to track down an enemy.
Not daring to speculate further, Nathan focused on finding her whereabouts.
The next day, Macie woke up at 6:00 am. She took out her phone to check the time, only to find more than 100 missed calls, all from Edward.
What the hell was he losing his mind over in the middle of the night?
It wasn’t just the missed calls. There was also a text message that had been sent around 11:00 pm.
“May, Ed drank quite a lot tonight. But don’t worry, he just went home.”
Accompanying the text was a photo taken in a bathroom.
Sharon had taken a photo of herself in the mirror, the hickeys on her neck and shoulders glaringly obvious. She was clearly flaunting her victory and trying to provoke Macie.
Macie gripped her phone tightly, a mocking smile playing on her lips.
All the missed calls from Edward–was that what he had done when he returned home from cheating and found no one waiting for him?
She had spent the night in pain, barely able to sleep, while the two of them had been indulging in a night of passion.
But what was the point of Sharon sending this to her? Macie had long since stopped caring.
Giving it another thought, she realized there was another point to it. This was evidence of his infidelity, delivered to her on a silver platter.
She would keep it well.
Over at Fowler Group, Edward had called Nathan for a report several times by noon.
Nathan had checked flight records, train stations, and even ferries. There was no trace of Macie anywhere. He was sweating profusely by that point, fearing for his job security.
“Mr. Fowler, does Mrs. Fowler have any friends? Or family? Maybe she went home…” he asked tremblingly.
“That’s impossible,” Edward growled.
Macie was an orphan. She wouldn’t have a family to return to. As for her friends…
Did she have any friends? He realized that he actually didn’t know.
Edward clenched his fists. For the first time ever, he realized that he knew absolutely nothing about Macie. He didn’t even know where to start looking for her.
