As soon as Sharon opened the social media app, the timestamp of the second conversation from the top made her smile fade, and her expression turned cold.
It was timestamped at 5:57 pm. That was when Edward was on his way to the restaurant.
She tapped into the chat. The previous messages had been erased, leaving only two from Edward:
“Why did you call me? Did you need me to do something for you?”
“Never mind.”
Sharon switched to the call log. The first entry was Macie’s name. Edward had called her first. The call lasted two
minutes.
Before Sharon could speculate on what they might have said in those two minutes, she heard footsteps approaching near the door. Snapping back to reality, Sharon quickly exited the app, turned off the screen, and put the phone back in place.
The private room door opened, and Edward walked in. “I forgot my phone.‘
Sharon smilingly handed it to him.
As soon as Edward left again, Sharon’s smile disappeared in an instant. Her eyes darkened with resentment and malice as she mumbled to herself, “Did you have to come back just for your phone when you’re only going to be in the restroom for such a short time? Were you afraid that I might look at it?”
A woman’s intuition was never wrong.
Edward was attracted to Macie.
Just a few days ago, he had refused to divorce, claiming that he wanted to torment Macie. But that was a lie. He simply didn’t want to let her go.
At that thought, Sharon clenched her jaw and pressed her lips together tightly. Her nails dug deep into her palms.
In the hallway, Edward walked toward the restroom while looking down at his phone. His gaze lingered on his chat with Macie.
The sight of her curt reply again irritated him for some reason.
After hesitating for several seconds, he typed out a message, only to delete it.
Frustrated, he exited the chat and instead sent a text to Nathan.
Nathan’s reply came quickly.
After reading it, Edward pressed his lips together.
It turned out that Macie wasn’t short on money. She had simply forgotten her medical insurance card.
But wasn’t that still the same thing? Otherwise, why bother with reimbursement?
With that thought, he clicked on the transfer page. He hesitated several times, changing the amount from 5,000
to 10,000 to 30,000.
And then… he backed out.
“Why should I be the one rushing to send her money? Why doesn’t she come to me if she’s short on cash?” Edward

muttered to himself, frustration laced in his voice.
“She hasn’t even apologized to me yet. Why should I be the first to cave?”
With that logic, he stubbornly returned to the private room, determined not to concede.
After a quick dinner, Edward drove Sharon to the fashion show.
“Ed, the runway show starts in half an hour. I’m going to get changed. You can wait here.” Sharon smiled and led. him to an empty conference room, to which Edward nodded
坛
Sharon headed backstage to the dressing room, where the other models immediately turned to look at her, whispering among themselves.
One of them finally came forward curiously. “Sharon, we heard that a super handsome guy in a Rolls–Royce brought you here. Who’s he to you?”
“It’s exactly what you think it is,” Sharon replied, basking in their envious gazes.
“Wow! Is he some rich heir? Are you marrying into a wealthy family soon?” another model asked.
“I’m not saying anything yet. But when the time comes, you’ll all get an invitation,” Sharon announced smugly.
The room filled with admiration and flattery. The same people who once looked down on Sharon–disliking how this overseas returnee had swooped in and taken the spotlight–were now eagerly trying to cozy up to her, hoping that she could introduce them to high society.
Meanwhile, Edward sat staring at his phone in the conference room.
Five minutes had passed, and Macie still hadn’t accepted the money transfer.
Another three minutes ticked by.
Unable to wait any longer, Edward dialed Macie’s number.
