Edward helped Sharon regain her footing. Just then, one of the straps of her top slid off her shoulder.
From his angle, Edward could see Sharon’s deep cleavage.he red marks he had left on that part of her skin last night were still visible. Yet, the top that Sharon was wearing… belonged to Macle.
At that moment, Edward felt as though he was caught cheating right before Macie’s eyes. His palms grew numb, and he instantly turned his face away.
“Edward, can you hold onto my left arm? I want to wash my face.” Sharon looked up at him.
Edward helped wring out a wet towel and passed it to Sharon. After wiping her face, Sharon tried to support herself by holding onto the sink.
“I’m done now. Thanks, You can go…‘
Before she could finish her sentence, Sharon was about to fall again, but Edward was prepared this time. He grabbed her by the waist and caught her effortlessly.
“You shouldn’t push yourself. You need to be mindful of your foot injury,” Edward said.
Sharon gripped his arms and turned around. The two of them stood facing each other.
Her hands slowly crept up, and she circled her arms around Edward’s neck. She had a shy yet seductive look in her eyes.
It felt like the temperature in the narrow bathroom was rising gradually. Their lips drew closer. Just as they were about to touch, Edward’s gaze drifted across the hickey on Sharon’s shoulder.
It was one of the marks he had left on her body last night in the heat of the moment.
Suddenly, Edward came to his senses and straightened himself. Expressionlessly, he said, “I’ll carry you back into the room.”
He could argue by saying that what happened the night before was just an act of impulse, but what about this time?
Edward would not allow himself to make the same mistake twice.
Sharon was carried in his arms and lowered onto the bed despite her reluctance. She could not understand why her plans to seduce Edward had failed. The same thing happened last night, where Edward stopped abruptly and refused to go further.
Just when he was about to back away, she clutched onto his hand and bit her lip. “Edward, do you hate me?”
Edward’s lips were pressed into a thin line. He answered, “No.”
“It seems like you do, though…” Sharon circled her arms around his waist to stop him from leaving.
He stiffened for a bit. Then, he slowly pried her hands off. “You’re injured, and you need to get enough rest.”
“I only injured my foot. I didn’t injure anywhere else…” Sharon tried to hold onto his waist again, but Edward took a few steps backward to put some distance between them.
If she tried to cling to him again, the fact that her legs were perfectly fine would be exposed. Sharon could only gaze at him as tears welled in her eyes.
“Sharon, I want to treat you with care and respect. Even a small injury like this is considered a huge issue to me,” Edward said gently.

“So, you should rest well tonight. Good night.” He turned around and left the room.
Inside the room, Sharon was feeling skeptical after hearing Edward’s remarks. Frustrated, she slammed her fist on the bed, having been so close to being physically intimate with him.
After closing the door behind him, Edward returned to the master bedroom so quickly that it seemed like he was fleeing from something.
He could not put his finger on it, but the longer he stayed in Macie’s room, the more agitated he felt. It was as though he were being judged. His heartbeat quickened, especially when he detected that faint scent.
It felt so strange to him. Edward could not figure out why he felt that way. He walked over to his bed and picked up his phone. Edward saw that he had accidentally sent the message carlier, yet Macie had not replied.
He tightened his grip on the phone. His feelings of frustration and agitation were instantly replaced by anger. He threw his phone, which landed on the carpet and slid toward a corner of the room.
In the ward, Macie was texting Julian. She had seen Edward’s message, yet she felt that he did not have to inform her about Sharon.
It made her wonder if Edward was explaining Sharon’s stay or flaunting that he’d brought another woman home. With her being away from home, those two could do whatever they wanted in the house. Still, the thought of those two fooling around in her bed made Macie’s stomach turn.
She found it all utterly disgusting. She decided to throw everything away from the sheets to the mattress. She also made a note to disinfect the room.
