Chapter 28
“How’s the soup? Is it good?” Sharon looked at Edward expectantly.
She had the soup ordered and delivered from a restaurant. So, she was confident that he would be satisfied with
the taste.
“It’s delicious. You have excellent cooking skills,” Edward remarked after having a sip.
Truthfully, he found the soup to be quite oily and salty. It tasted like something a regular restaurant would make.
Edward much preferred Macie’s cooking, which tasted lighter on the palate. Her dishes were different from the food that was prepared outside.
“You should have some more if it’s to your taste. I can make it for your every day,” Sharon said chirpily.
When Edward heard Sharon’s offer to make soup every day, he quickly said, “I’ll help bring over your personal documents tomorrow. You can stay in one of the hotels owned by Fowler Group. No paparazzi would dare follow you there.”
Sharon bit her lip hard. Yet, she was smiling again two seconds later. “Alright. Thank you, Edward.”
The two of them continued eating. When Sharon offered to get him a second serving, Edward politely declined.
“I ate quite a lot in the afternoon. You can have more.” Edward got up and made himself a cup of tea.
Sharon clenched her jaw. After looking at the food on the table, she decided to order from another restaurant tomorrow.
On the balcony, Edward sipped some tea to eliminate the olly aftertaste. At the same time, he was looking at his phone. Macie had not replied to his messages for an entire day.
He felt more and more irked as he stared at his phone. Edward removed the chat window since he found it annoying to keep seeing it on his homepage. Then, he sent Nathan a message, telling him to fetch a few things from the hotel.
Nathan went to the hotel on an errand for Edward, where he met Sharon’s assistant, Rebecca Grant. Realizing that he was delivering belongings from the woman who was involved in last night’s incident, guilt struck him. He felt like he had betrayed Macie.
Nathan had just exited the hotel’s entrance when several reporters swiftly surrounded him. They took photos and tried to interview him.
“You’ve got the wrong person! I’m not him!” Nathan replied quickly.
The reporters left, yet the things Nathan carried in his arms were knocked all over the floor. Rebecca quickly checked afterward and found that some of the valuable items were stolen.
Nathan had no choice but to call Edward and apologize for what happened. Edward was exasperated.
“Are
those reporters thieves? They even stole her watch and her bag? Have you made a police report?”
Nathan informed him that he did and the hotel staff would also check their surveillance footage.
Sitting at the dining table, Sharon curled her lips. She got up and limped toward Edward.
“Edward, it’s fine even if those things are stolen. What matters is that your employee is not harmed.”
“Those people must be crazy about money,” Edward said, ending the phone call. I’ll get those exact items for you. again.‘

After all, Nathan had failed to protect Sharon’s belongings,
“It’s alright. I can always find new replacements for those things myself.” Sharon was being very considerate.
Suddenly, she furrowed her brows. It seemed like she just remembered something as she anxiously asked, “What should I do? My personal documents are kept in that bag. I take time for me to apply and get those documents replaced.”
“You can just stay here for the time being. I’ll tell Nathan to bring your things over,” Edward replied.
“Huh? Won’t I be a bother? May’s not home at the moment. We probably need her permission…” Sharon
cautiously said.
“Don’t mind her. You can stay here if I say so.” Edward remained expressionless.
A brief while later, Nathan delivered the items to Edward’s place. Seeing how another woman had moved into the place, Nathan felt extremely bad for Macie, who was still hospitalized.
He left shortly afterward. Edward thought that those were all Sharon had for her luggage. A while later, Rebecca arrived with more bags and suitcases, which lined the corridor.
“Edward, the guest room is a little small. I can’t put all of my things inside. What should I do?” Sharon seemed a little flustered.
“We’ll just move Macie’s things out,” Edward responded.
“That’s not very appropriate. Which room will May stay in when she gets back?” Sharon bit her bottom lip.
“There’s another smaller guest room. She can stay in that one,” he replied indifferently.
