Chapter 32
Macie quietly took a deep breath, forcing herself to suppress the urge to argue.

After all, it was just a place to sleep. She didn’t think that it made a difference where she slept. She could endure it
It was only for ten days anyway.
“Where are my things?” Macie asked.
Edward, noticing that her anger had subsided as quickly as flared, replied, “Sharon had someone pack them up and put them in the small guest room.”
Hearing that, Macie walked to the other small room and pushed open the door, only to find her belongings scattered messily all over the floor. Anyone who didn’t know better would think that it was just a pile of trash. Behind her, Nathan inhaled sharply. The mistress had bullied the rightful wife terribly. First, she took over the latter’s bedroom, and now she was forcing her to sleep in what was basically a storage room. Edward, who had followed, took in the scene and frowned slightly before turning to Sharon.
“Is this how your assistant handles things? By dumping everything on the floor?”
“I’m so sorry, Ed.” Sharon bit her lip, her gaze filled with remorse. “I didn’t check when she moved the things. I had no idea that she was so careless. I’ll speak to her later.” She then stepped to the door. “May, let me help you tidy things up. I’m really sorry. Can you not be mad at me?!
“It’s fine. I’ll do it myself,” Macie rejected her coldly.
“May…” Sharon’s voice carried a pitiful sob. She stood there helplessly, casting a pleading look at Edward.
“Do you really have to speak to Sharon in that tone?” Edward scolded Macie, his expression darkening. “She wasn’t the one who threw your stuff. Why are you taking it out on her?”
Macie clenched her fists at those words. Finally losing her patience, she turned and retorted, “How exactly am I taking it out on her? Did I yell? Did I hit her? All I said was that I would tidy it up myself.”
Edward paused for two seconds before responding, “It’s your tone. You’re giving her attitude.”
“Hah! Oh, really?” Macie sneered. “If you don’t like what you see, don’t watch. Just leave.”
Edward was infuriated by her defiant attitude. Grabbing Sharon’s hand, he turned to leave. “It’s pointless to be kind to her. Come on, Sharon. Don’t bother with her.”
The room fell silent as they left. Finally, there was some peace.
Macie squatted down and started picking up her belongings
“Mrs. Fowler…” Nathan placed her bag on the nightstand and helped her.
That day, he had truly witnessed Sharon’s tactics. Her ability to act pitiful and manipulative was first–rate. Macie hadn’t even said anything particularly harsh, but Sharon had still managed to look like a victim, and Edward had taken her side without question.
“You can go too. I can handle this myself,” Macie reassured Nathan.
“It’s fine. Mr. Fowler hasn’t called for me yet,” Nathan replied, feeling sympathetic for her.
Just as he spoke, a cold voice came from the doorway.

“Nathan.”
Nathan turned around to see Edward standing there and staring at him, his expression dark. He was clearly upset.
Left with no choice, Nathan got up and reluctantly left. He had only wanted to help Macie clean up, but Edward had ended up being jealous.
“Take these out and throw them away. Thanks.” Macie handed Nathan a plastic bag filled with the bedsheets, pillows, and blankets she found dirty and disgusting.
Who knew how many times Edward and Sharon rolled around in them?
Macie couldn’t even stand touching them.
“Yes, Mrs. Fowler,” Nathan said compliantly, taking the bag.
“Why are you throwing them away? Where will you sleep?” Edward asked, his brows furrowing.
Throwing away even the pillows and blankets? He wondered if Macie was planning to leave again,
