Chapter 34
When Macie went to the bathroom to wash the cloth, she noticed that all her personal toiletries–her toothbrush, skincare products, and everything–were gone. Only Sharon’s set remained, neatly placed beside Edward’s.
Macie let out a mocking laugh. She had lived there for two years, but Sharon had erased all traces of her existence. within just two weeks. She had gone from being the rightful owner to an outsider, an intruder who no longer belonged.
At the same time, a Rolls–Royce came to a stop outside the modeling office.
The car door soon opened, and Sharon stepped out. She deliberately stood sideways to bid Edward goodbye so everyone in the lobby could see him.
As the car drove away, she smiled brightly and waved before turning around, her expression filled with confidence, pride, and satisfaction.
“Wow, Sharon! Your boyfriend dropped you off again!!
“You two have such a good relationship. Mr. Fowler is rich and handsome. And since he’s an only child, no one will fight you for the inheritance!”
“Ugh, I’m so jealous! You’re so lucky.”
Sharon’s smile grew even wider as she soaked in their endless compliments. But then, a mocking voice interrupted them.
“Boyfriend? Are you sure you’re not just the side chick? Mr. Fowler hasn’t officially acknowledged your relationship.‘
“Isn’t he already 27? What if he’s already married?”
Sharon shot them a glare and gritted her teeth. “Sour grapes! You’re just jealous, aren’t you? If you’re so capable, why don’t you find a handsome, rich boyfriend too?”
“Then why don’t you get him to go public with your relationship? We’ll believe you when he does it,” the other woman retorted.
Sharon clenched her fists upon hearing that. Before she could think of a comeback, the director arrived, cutting off the argument.
Inside the CEO’s office at Fowler Group, Edward appeared to be listening to his subordinates‘ reports. In reality, his mind was completely elsewhere. He was mentally listing off dishes.
For the past two weeks, he had been eating nothing but overly processed food, so much so that his stomach problems had flared up again. Every night, he found himself rummaging through the fridge, craving the taste of Macie’s cooking.
After much deliberation, he settled on three dishes and pulled out his phone to send her a message.
He frowned after hitting sepd. He wondered if three dishes were too many. After all, Macie had just been discharged from the hospital.
So, after some thought, he sent another message saying that just one dish would be fine.
“Mr. Fowler? Mr. Fowler,” the manager cautiously called his name.
Edward looked up. “The plan looks fine. We’ll implement it next quarter.”

Chapter 34
The room fell into silence. Everyone in the room stared at fim.
Edward looked back at them, equally confused.
“Sir, the plan was already approved earlier. Right now, we’re discussing the new product line for next quarter,” the manager awkwardly reminded him.
Edward remained silent.
This was the second time it had happened. The first time, he had abruptly left a meeting halfway through.
Now, the executives were all speculating.
One manager, who was sitting closest to him, glanced at Edward’s phone screen out of the corner of his eye. The chat window was filled with one–sided messages from Edward. There was not a single reply from the other person.
He noticed that the name on the chat was… Macie. He pondered if it was a woman.
There had always been rumors that Edward was secretly married, but some claimed it was fake. But now, it seemed like the rumors might be true.
Still, he thought that the model from two weeks ago was named Sharon or some other.
He couldn’t help but think that the upper circle of society was indeed messy.
Back at home, Macie had just finished dusting the furniture, mopping the floors, and opening the windows for fresh air when she received a message from Edward placing an order for food.
She pursed her lips and huffed before she tossed her phone onto the bed.
So that was all she was to him–a maid. She had barely returned, and he was already ordering her around.
