“Excuse me, may I ask how you and Mr. Fowler are related the receptionist asked in a hushed tone.
“I’m his housekeeper who cooks for him,” Macie replied indifferently.
The receptionist hesitated, wondering if there really was such a young housekeeper. And if that were the case, why had Nathan instructed her to be respectful toward this woman?
She had no time to ask further questions as the elevator doors opened, and Macie stepped inside, heading straight to the top floor.
Macie found Nathan already waiting upon her arrival.
He immediately took the food container from her hands and softly said, “Mrs. Fowler, I was just about to go downstairs to meet you, but…” He hesitated before adding sincerely, “And please, you can always ask me for help, really.”
Macie understood that he was a kind person. She gave him a faint smile. “You can take it inside. I’m leaving.”
“Aren’t you coming in?” Nathan asked.
“I don’t want to see his stinking face,” she replied coldly.
“That’s… quite an accurate description,” Nathan silently agreed.
Macie pressed the elevator button and was about to step inside when a voice sounded from behind her.
“You’re here, so why aren’t you bringing it in? Why are you standing there like an idiot?”
“Mr. Fowler, I have the food with me,” Nathan announced, to which Edward shot him a glare.
“Was I talking to you?”
Nathan could only stand there quietly in response.
Macie, who had already stepped into the elevator, didn’t even bother to turn around. She waited for the doors to
close.
But just as they were about to shut, a large hand reached in, grabbed her arm and pulled her straight out.
Thrown off balance, she stumbled backward, her back colliding with a firm, solid chest. When she looked was met with a pair of tightly pressed lips and a dark expression.
“You have the food. Why did you pull me?” she demanded coldly.

She wondered if Edward was insane. What did he expect her to do–kneel and serve him his meal?
“Why are you leaving when I haven’t started eating? Do you expect Nathan to bring your food container back for you? He doesn’t have time for that,” Edward argued.
From this close distance, he noticed for the first time just how flawlessly smooth, fair, and delicate her skin was. With her exquisite features, Macie was a natural beauty.
But that beauty was currently marred by a deep frown, full of irritation, as she struggled to break free from his grip.
“You can just bring the container home after work, can’t you?” Macie asked, exasperated, still unable to break free from his iron grip.

On the side, Nathan, who was still holding the food container, silently thought, “Mr. Fowler just wants to spend more time with you, Mrs. Fowler. He just… doesn’t know how to say it properly.”
“How long are you planning to hold on to me? You’re hurting me,” Macie snapped, glaring up at him.
Edward immediately let go. He shifted his gaze away before turning and instructing, “Follow me. Once I’m done eating, you can take it back. I might not be home until midnight.”
Macie didn’t understand what that had to do containers.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she decided not to argue. She figured that she just had to wait for a little while more. She could handle that.
Nathan silently followed behind, not daring to make a single sound. After placing the food container on the table, he tactfully slipped away, closing the door behind him.
Edward sat down on the couch and opened the container. Inside were three dishes. He glanced at her and reminded her, “Didn’t I tell you to just prepare one dish?”
“If you can’t finish it, throw it away,” Macie stated.
Seeing her attitude toward him, he felt anger rise in his chest. Still, he forced himself to hold it in.
After all, he was why Macie stayed in the hospital for half a month. It was normal for her to still be angry. And she even cooked three dishes for him.
He knew that she was soft–hearted despite her stubbornness.
