They had once been so in love.

Like a dam breaking, she lost it–screaming curses, eyes burning with madness.
Then, suddenly, her lips curled into a sneer. “Oh, I almost forgot–I’m still legally his wife. And I never plan on divorcing him.
“No matter what, you and your PRECIOUS family will never get rid of me.”
“You-!”
Coreene trembled, too furious to speak.
Word of the Rohan family’s latest disaster eventually reached Lena.
Hearing Andrew’s name again after all this time, she hesitated–just for a moment.
Since leaving for Engloria, she had cut all ties. She never expected this to be his fate.
But a vegetative state?
She felt nothing.
They were strangers now. Whatever happened to him had nothing to do with her.

Lena shook her head.
After everything he’d done? After everything she had been through? No. She had nothing left for him.
She had better things now.
Across the room, Vernon approached, their daughter nestled in his arms. He reached for Lena’s hand, his smile warm.
“Honey, Cece and I came to take you home.”
Home.
Her favorite word.
She looked at them–her family–warmth flooding her chest. Fingers curling around his, she smiled softly.
“Alright. Let’s go home.”
From now on, through every season, every moment, she would have them by her side.
