Chapter 17
Chapter 17
My head began to throb, a relentless buzzing sound filling my ears. The dizziness hit me again, and I struggled to explain, “I’m not a homewrecker… I’m not…”
“Not?” Kira’s voice shot up a notch. “You openly pursued Julian In your sophomore year! If that’s not being a homewrecker, then what is? Let me tell you, you ruined the relationship between Jullan and Chloe. You’re the reason they broke up!”
“No, it’s not like that… It’s not… Dolly told me it wasn’t…”
It couldn’t be true. I wasn’t a homewrecker.
Dolly told me that Julian and Chloe had already broken up when I found out and began pursuing him. I wasn’t the other woman–it wasn’t possible.
But how could I explain this to Kira? I had lost my memory, I didn’t even know what had happened back then.
My body started trembling uncontrollably, cold sweat breaking out all over me. Regret washed over me. I shouldn’t have come to the Wynn estate. I should have stayed at the hospital earlier today. Getting admitted would’ve at least spared me this torment. It would’ve been better than this humiliation.
Kira, realizing I wasn’t responding and had covered my ears, lashed out and gave me a hard shove. Already unsteady from the dizziness, I fell heavily to the ground. The intense vertigo left me lying there, unable to get up.
Kira’s voice continued to lash at me like a whip. “Evelyn White, you shameless woman! Don’t think pretending to be weak will earn my cousin’s sympathy. What else do you have besides your face and your title as the White family’s heiress? You’re nothing but a hollow shell.
“Compared to Chloe, you’re dirt on the ground! You’ve smeared her, defamed her, and almost drove her to suicide. Do you even realize that?!”
Her tirade was endless, a relentless stream of accusations.
I couldn’t hear clearly anymore; the buzzing in my ears drowned her out, and the dizziness made me nauseous. All I wished for was for Kira to shut up and stop yelling.
“Kira! That’s enough!”
A sharp voice cut through the chaos, and Kira fell silent.
Relief washed over me.
The next moment, someone gently lifted me off the ground and placed me carefully onto the bed.
I couldn’t hold it in any longer. Grabbing his sleeve, I let out a wail and vomited everything I’d eaten that evening.
This bout was even worse than before. I retched violently, tears and snot streaming down my face as if my entire insides were being turned out.
That same gentle voice murmured, “It’s okay, let it out if you’re feeling sick… it’s alright now.”
Kira sounded panicked. “What’s wrong with her?! She’s faking it, isn’t she? I didn’t even push her that hard! I was just mad and gave her a light shove–she fell on her own!”
I heard Miles‘ voice, cold and sharp. “She already has a head injury, possibly with lingering effects from a concussion. That shove of yours certainly didn’t help. Go back to your room now, and don’t come out again!”
Kira protested. “Miles! I’m not leaving! She’s the one who should go, not me.”

Chapter 12
Miles‘ voice grew even colder, “Mrs. Warren, park Miss Ki’s belongings and send her to stay at the Yellow Sea Hotel.”
Kira was stunned. “You’re sending me to a hotel?! You’re king me out for her?”
I couldn’t pay attention to what came next. The noise inside and outside the room was chaotic. It sounded like the staff were trying to usher Kira away, while I kept vomiting termittently.
Finally, when I had nothing left in me, I opened my eyes to see the man who had silently supported me all this.
time.
I gave him a bitter smile. “Miles… I think I should go to the hospital. In this state… I’ve ruined your room.”
Miles supported me, his expression contemplative.
Without saying a word, he scooped me up in his arms and turned to the approaching staff. “Clean this up. Also, call Joseph and have him come over.”
Carrying me effortlessly, Miles took me up to the fourth floor.
He was tall and holding me was like carrying a feather. The severe dizziness made it impossible for me to open my eyes or see my surroundings clearly, but I felt him bring me into a large room.
There was a faint scent of pinewood in the air.
Moments later, he gently laid me down on a spacious bed.
I lay there motionless, as lifeless as a discarded rag doll.
I could hear Miles moving about the room. A while later, a warm towel was pressed against my face.
I felt someone carefully wiping my face, and when I opened my eyes, I saw Miles‘ calm, chiseled profile.
