They had no obligation to me, and the fact that Miles had done this much was more than generous.
Perhaps he was only helping me out of respect for the Whit family and my brother:
Any unrealistic thoughts I might have had vanished into thin air.
The test results were promising there were signs that the swelling in my brain was subalding. Last night’s vomiting was just a symptom of post–concussion syndrom
As I held the report in my hands, a weight lifted from my cliest.
I was still young; I wasn’t ready to give up on life just yet..
I didn’t understand why I’d been so impulsive to jump before losing my memory. If I ever had to do it again, I’d make sure to drag Julian, that scumbag, down with me.
“Why are you still being so dramatic, Evelyn? The doctor said you’re fine.”
The voice I dreaded most returned, lingering like a shadow
I frowned as Julian strode over, his presence making my scalp tingle with unease.
Instinctively, I stepped behind Joseph.
Joseph positioned himself firmly in front of me, his expression full of disapproval. “Mr. Moore, the doctor said Miss White is stable for now, not that she’s completely fine. Please refrain from agitating her further.”
Julian stopped in front of me, a cold, mocking smile curling his lips. “Evelyn, I’ll admit, your tantrum worked this time. Chloe’s planning to leave. Congratulations. You got what you wanted.”
Chloe? Again with Chloe?!
I frowned. “What does her leaving have to do with me? Julian, stop pinning everything on me. I’m not taking the blame for this.”
His smile deepened, laced with sarcasm. “Wasn’t driving her away your goal? Now that you’ve succeeded, shouldn’t you be thrilled?”
I let out a laugh, furious. “Do you think this is the first time Chloe’s left you? If she truly loved you, she wouldn’t have left in the first place.”
Julian froze, genuinely stunned. For once, he didn’t have a sharp retort.
Feeling annoyed, I turned my head away, unwilling to look at him. I couldn’t stand his smug yet clueless demeanor
it was exasperating.
I didn’t remember why Chloe had left Julian back then, but based on what Dolly had told me, if Chloe had really wanted to, marrying Julian would’ve been a walk in the park.
But she resolutely chose to go abroad for further studies.
Anyone with a discerning eye could see that, to Chloe, her education and future mattered far more. Julian simply didn’t measure up.
What kind of person deeply in love would let distance tear them apart?
As the saying goes, “True love can overcome any obstacle.”

If two people got drifted apart, it only meant the love was ver strong enough to hold them together.
Jullan was left speechless by my retort, standing frozen inace without saying a word.
I tugged gently on Joseph’s sleeve. “Can we go now?”
Joseph glanced at the dazed Julian, his tone icy. “Mr. Moore step aside.”
Julian snapped out of his stupor, his expression darkening as he blocked our way. “Evelyn, you’re not leaving.”
I held back my rising frustration and asked, “What exactly do you want?”
“Come back with me,” he said firmly.
His tone left no room for negotiation–it wasn’t a request it a command.
I scoffed and replied, “I’m not going back.”
Julian let out a mocking laugh, as if I’d just told him a joke. You’re angry right now, so I’ll let it slide. Three days
that’s all I’m giving you. You’ll come back willingly in three days.”
“And what happens after that?” I shot back. “Go back to being the wife you despise? Pretend we’re a happy couple while we argue every day, making ourselves the laughingstock of everyone around us?”
Once again, Julian was at a loss for words.
After a long pause, he finally managed to say, “We don’t have to argue. As long as you stop throwing tantrums, we
can still-
“Still what?” I cut him off with a sneer. “Still play the part of the picture–perfect couple for everyone else? Let me make this clear, Julian Moore–I’m done being your wife. I’m not cut out for it, and I’m too tired to keep trying. I give up. Is that clear enough for you?”
His face turned ashen, his voice dark. “Evelyn…”
I had no intention of wasting another word on him.
