Thinking of how kind his parents had been, I couldn’t help but cry again.
When we arrived at Dylan’s parents‘ house, he didn’t find either one of his parents. Instead, he saw Bernice, who was there to
clean up their belongings.
Seeing him, Bernice, who had been calm, became agitated again. She rushed over to slap Dylan. “Why are you only showing up
now? Where have you been?”
A sense of unease enveloped Dylan, and his voice turned hoarse. “Where’s Mom and Dad?”
Bernice cried, “Mom and Dad are gone.”
“It’s impossible!” Dylan exploded in anger. He denied it as he rushed from room to room, shouting, “You’re all just pretending! When I left, Mom and Dad were perfectly fine. How could they suddenly be gone?”
Bernice shook her head. “Why don’t you believe me? Mom and Dad are truly gone. They were poisoned to death. The doctor said
that they kept calling our names before they passed. We’re not worthy of being their children.”
Andrew and Sally were the best parents in the world and had devoted everything to Dylan and Bernice.

Dylan still refused to believe it. He yelled, “Dad, Mom, stop playing around and come out!”

No matter how much he yelled, screamed, and struggled, the fact that his parents had passed away was undeniable. No one would
be coming out of that room anymore.
A wave of panic consumed Dylan, and his eyes went red. He collapsed onto the floor, his expression one of unbearable pain.
I didn’t feel a shred of sympathy as I watched the scene. I only felt a deep sense of satisfaction.
Dylan’s tears fell. Suddenly, he looked up and lunged at me, grabbing my neck. “Fiona, it’s you! You poisoned my parents! You
killed them!”
His grip was firm. Soon, everything went black before my eyes. Fear gripped my heart as my hands clenched tightly.
Bernice rushed over, desperately trying to pull his hands away.
“Dylan, stop! This has nothing to do with Fiona. In fact, she’s been running around trying to help today. Don’t be ungrateful!”
At that moment, the police kicked open the door. They rushed in and restrained Dylan
I quickly ran behind one of the officers and pointed at Dylan. “Officer, this man tried to kill me! Please arrest him!”
Having lived through one life already, I was terrified that Dylan might kill me if things escalated. So, I called the police when I
arrived.
Even with the police here, Dylan still couldn’t keep his composure. “How dare you call the police, Fiona! After everything you’ve
done, how can you still have the audacity to do that?”
I could no longer hold my anger in. “What exactly did I do wrong? The only mistake I made was being with you.”
Dylan shouted at me, “If they hadn’t pretended to be sick because of you in the past, I would’ve never doubted that they were poisoned! If I could’ve taken them to the hospital, they wouldn’t have died. This is all your fault!”
Before I could respond, Bernice said, “Dylan, stop it. I know about that incident, too, and it had nothing to do with Fiona. Mom
didn’t like you being with Lauren, so she tricked you.”
Those words silenced Dylan. He looked at his sister in disbelief. “How is that possible? Mom loved Lauren the most.
