I nodded. I agreed just to convince Yvonne that I was trustworthy.
“How are you getting on with Mr. Graham, Yvonne?”
Yvonne immediately smiled happily. “He’s not as cold as I thought. He kept smiling at me while we were having our meal.”
She played with her hair in delight. “It won’t take me long to claim him.”
Yvonne gave me a few more instructions before turning to leave.
Winona sat up straight right after Yvonne left. She was clearly upset.
I said nothing, but she suddenly laughed. “It’s fine. If he’s gone, he’s gone. This is an opportunity for me to break it off with someone who doesn’t suit me.”
It was clear that she was forcing herself to be strong. I passed her a piece of tissue.
She immediately broke down and cried.
I looked outside nervously. I was afraid someone would suddenly return and catch her awake. Our plan might fail because of this.
Fortunately for us, no one came in. Winona cursed at Sean and Yvonne for a while before finally calming down.
When Sean returned that night, I picked up my school bag and went home.
Yvonne must have said something to Mom because she did not yell at me today. She was aware that I was out helping Yvonne get a rich man.
However, Mom did not care if I had already eaten. There were only cold leftovers placed on the table for me. Moreover, everyone had already gone to bed.
I glanced at the dishes and turned to the fridge. I took out a piece of meat and went to the kitchen to make myself a meal.
This was my junior year, and I had to make sure I ate nutritious food and was healthy enough to keep up with my studies. No one took care of me, so I had to take care of myself.
After I was done with dinner, I returned to my room to sleep.
The next morning, I arrived at the hospital on time. Sean had not left the hospital yet. It looked like he had slept on the bed next to Winona.
I glanced at him and asked, “Have you found the person who poisoned Winona, Mr. Graham?”
Sean looked at me and shook his head. “No.”
