“Kenneth, what are you talking about?”
“Irene. She must have been afraid that night when she was locked inside the freezer. The thunder that night was just like today.”
Agnes’s expression darkened, but she said nothing.
Kenneth suddenly stood up and left the ward. Agnes hurriedly climbed out of bed and ran after him. She threw her arms around
him from behind.
“If you’re scared, have the nurses keep you company. I have things to take care of.”
Kenneth pried Agnes‘ hands off him without a second thought. He didn’t see the look of disbelief on her face as he rejected her.
So, Kenneth was capable of rejecting Agnes.
It was just like how he had rejected me before.
Was it his true intention to spend all that time with Agnes? Did he never realize what he was doing?
The moment Kenneth stepped out of the room, his secretary ran toward him.
“Alpha Kenneth, we managed to recover the surveillance footage. The freezer was opened by a man in black. We’re still
investigating his identity.”
Kenneth clenched his fists.
“Find him at all costs!”
“There’s something else that’s a bit strange.‘
The secretary’s voice grew softer as he observed Kenneth’s reaction.
“Speak!”
“Is Agnes truly claustrophobic? The storage unit she was locked in had its lights on the entire time. That’s why the janitor assumed someone was still inside and didn’t bother opening the door.”
Kenneth’s brows furrowed. The secretary quickly shut his mouth and said no more.
“Do you suspect Agnes?”
“No, no, not at all! I just believe that Luna Irene wasn’t the kind of person to seek revenge behind someone’s back.”
The secretary waved his hands and spoke in my defense.
I hovered in the air while I listened to everything. My eyes welled up with tears.
Even Kenneth’s secretary knew what kind of person I was.
Why did Kenneth never believe me?

Chapter 5
“Agnes wouldn’t lie to me. She wouldn’t,” Kenneth muttered under his breath.
His secretary said nothing more.
From the moment I joined this pack, I thought everyone would be like Kenneth–filled with distrust toward me.
I never imagined that, in the end, someone would still be willing to speak up for me.
