The guards retreated to the door, but Kenneth ruthlessly kicked one of them down.
“What happened to Irene?”
He rushed inside and searched for me in the freezer.
I was curled up in a corner. My corpse was encased in a layer of frost.
Kenneth stared at me. He couldn’t bring himself to come any closer.
“What is this? Where’s Irene? Who ordered you to bring a corpse here to deceive me?”
The guard trembled and pointed at my frozen corpse in the corner.
“Alpha Kenneth, this is Luna Irene. No one has opened this door the entire time.”
Kenneth shook his head. He frantically searched every inch of the room.
“No, no, no. You’re lying. I don’t believe you! Irene, come out! Where are you hiding? Is there a secret passage here? Stop hiding!”
Scratches covered the walls. Broken claw pieces were also scattered across the floor. These were all encased in frost.
Kenneth reached out to my corpse in the corner but hesitated and pulled away.
“No, this isn’t possible. This is just a faulty freezer. How could she have frozen to death? Where’s the surveillance footage? Bring
me the footage!”
A guard quickly obeyed and rushed off to the security room.
Kenneth stood still for a moment before suddenly grabbing my shoulders. He shook my corpse violently.
“Irene, stop pretending. Get up, let’s talk.”
