Lorelei stood there, watching his retreating figure while muttering in resentment, “Alexis, you’re dead, and yet you still manage to ruin my chances!”
Ryan sped down the road, finally screeching to a halt outside Scott’s house. In a fit of rage, he kicked the door open, the loud crash startling Scott inside.
“Who is it?” he asked, stepping out, only to become immediately wary upon seeing Ryan.
“Ryan? What are you doing here? Isn’t today your wedding with Alexis?”
But Ryan’s face was stormy and filled with anger as he replied, “What kind of game are you playing? Are you flaunting how Alexis made a fool of me, or are you just laughing at the fact that she’s cheating on me?”
Scott looked utterly confused, his face reflecting a mix of concern and bewilderment. “What do you mean? Did something happen to Alexis?”
“Don’t play dumb with me! Don’t think I don’t know about your little secrets!”
I knew exactly what he was talking about. It all started not long after Lorelei returned. She threw a fit, insisting Ryan take her to a church to pray. I didn’t want to watch them play house together, but Ryan insisted I join them.
On the way back, the sunny sky suddenly darkened, unleashing a torrential downpour. Our car came to a halt, as if something was blocking the road.
As Ryan stepped out to investigate, a group of thugs suddenly surrounded him. Armed with sticks and menacing expressions, they were clearly prepared for a confrontation.
Though Ryan was skilled, he quickly found himself outnumbered. Just then, one of the thugs raised a bat, ready to strike Ryan down. Without thinking, I rushed forward and stood behind him, ready to shield him from the blow.
