“Mr. Wolfe, how should we handle Ms. Harding’s body? Should we call the police?” the assistant asked, his voice awkwardly breaking the heavy silence.
Ryan remained fixed on the corpse, silent for what felt like an eternity.
When the assistant pressed him again, he finally spoke, his tone icy, “Call the police for what? This must be some corpse Alexis dug up to scare me!”
“Mr. Wolfe, this IS Ms. Harding!”
Ryan’s cold gaze stayed locked on the body; he didn’t take a single step closer.
“Alexis never gives up until she gets what she wants. There’s no way she just died like this. She’s probably hiding somewhere, laughing at me!”
In his eyes, everything I did was part of some grand scheme.
Our meeting had been an accident. A year ago, desperate to pay for tuition, I worked as a
waitress in a hotel.
One fateful day, after taking a sip of water from a colleague, I went to check on a room. To my surprise, I stumbled upon Ryan, who had fainted in the hallway.
Recognizing him from Room 506, I brought him back to his suite. But as soon as we entered, my head began to spin, and a warm flush spread through my body.
Something felt wrong, and I tried to muster the strength to leave. Just then, Ryan lunged at me, pinning me to the floor.
I struggled, but his kisses were desperate and fierce. What followed was a night of passion, and when I woke up, the sun was shining brightly.
Ryan insisted he would take responsibility, but I felt it wasn’t necessary–it was just an accident. Yet he insisted and said he wanted us to get to know each other better first.
At that time, he treated me well, as if we were truly in love. He was incredibly kind and

attentive, always remembering my preferences and planning little surprises for my birthday. Whenever I faced trouble or danger, he appeared like a guardian angel, shieldin me from harm.
I thought I would be happy forever. I secretly reveled in the belief that he had genuinely fallen for me, for I had been in love with him for as long as I could remember.
We naturally got engaged. But then Lorelei went missing that day.
A month ago, Ryan had stormed up to me, gripping my chin tightly.
“Alexis, you’re really something!” His voice was low and heavy, barely containing his simmering rage.
Confused, I gazed up at him, innocent and bewildered. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
“You drugged me back then and led me to sleep with you!”
His furious words stunned me, leaving me speechless and unable to fight back.
