The police took notes while facing Sasha. Still sniffling, she mumbled with an air of innocence, “I wasn’t doing anything this morning. I was just at home waiting for Emery to pick me up for our island vacation.”
Her eyes flickered nervously as she spoke, which betrayed her unease.
“You’re saying you were home the entire morning until noon and didn’t leave the house?” the officer pressed.
“Yes,” she replied quickly.
“If that’s the case, do you admit that the person in this footage is you?” The officer brought up the surveillance video again.
Sasha’s face paled as she watched the clip. Her panic was evident. She glanced at Emery while silently pleading for help.
Emery’s expression wavered. He recognized her in the footage but was desperate to hear otherwise. “Sasha, is that you? Just tell me it isn’t, and I’ll believe you!” His grip on her arm tightened involuntarily.
“Emery, I don’t know how this happened!” she cried dramatically. “You know me–I’m afraid of loud noises, let alone harming my own children!”
She abruptly turned the tables by pointing an accusing finger at me. “It’s you! You faked this video to frame me!”
Tears streamed down her face as Emery’s fleeting logic crumbled once again. “Baby, I’m so sorry,” he cooed. He pulled her into his arms. “I was wrong to doubt you!”
He then turned on me with renewed fury. “Caroline, you’ve really lost it this time! First, you try to kill my kids, and now you’re framing Sasha? I’m done with you! You hear me? Done!”
He continued, “Do you know how many times Sasha spoke up for you? And this is how you repay her? Unbelievable!”
