Suddenly, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.
The burden I carried for my entire life–the death of her parents, which was supposedly because they saved me- was finally lifted. I never owed her anything. I didn’t need to accommodate her.
“No! You b*tch!” My mother screamed and struggled like a mad woman.
Memories of her beating and scolding me flooded her mind. A surge of guilt seemed to choke my mother. Yet, it also fueled her strength.
The officers hadn’t anticipated that she could have such power, so she managed to break free from their grasp. Alice was still held by the police, so she bore the full brunt of my mother’s rage, receiving several hard slaps that knocked out a few bloodied teeth.
Still, she smirked at my mother coldly.

“Alice, what exactly is going on?” Liam frowned and looked at Alice. “Did you hurt Vanessa and my children?”
Alice tilted her head to look at Liam. When she saw the blame in his eyes, she was taken aback. I clearly saw the pain and disappointment in her eyes, which surprised me since I didn’t expect her to feel sad, too.
Nevertheless, Alice wasn’t the kind of person who would feel sorry for herself. Thus, she curled her lips into a smirk and said, “Are you trying to act innocent now? You were the one who brought this all up first. I merely said I was afraid of giving birth, and you had your wife bear me a child.

As she looked at Liam’s furious, she suddenly thought of something. “Don’t you understand? That butterfly hair tie originally belonged to Vanessa. I was the one who took it from her. You should have loved her right from the start, not me. It was she who protected you when we were young, not me.”
At that moment, realization dawned on Liam. He froze as his body started to tremble. “What are you saying? Are you trying to deceive me?” he asked shakily.
Alice giggled gleefully and looked at Liam pitifully. “You’re hilarious! There’s a three–year age gap between me and Vanessa. Can’t you tell us apart?
“Or is your brain just not all there? Or perhaps you’ve known the truth all along but are too afraid to admit it? Are you doing this to try to hide the fact that you are a sc*mbag?”
Alice seemed to have lost her mind. Right now, it seemed that she wanted to take everyone down with her.
“With a cold–hearted mother, a useless father, and a disgusting lover… Honestly, isn’t Vanessa better off dead?“
