Daniel could not find Abigail.
He had exhausted every possible way to track her down.
He called her friends, telling them he had upset Abigail and now could not find her, asking if they had seen her.
They all thought he was joking.
“No way! You two are so inseparable. You’re telling me you actually fought?
“Abigail has never been the type to get mad at you. What did you do to make her leave?”
He was at a loss for words. All he could do was silently hang up the phone.
Of course. No one believed that he could have made Abigail angry. Even he could not believe it.
Yet the reality was he had messed up beyond repair. He checked her travel records, and there was nothing.
She had made sure he would not be able to find her.
Abigail was never going to forgive him.
That thought alone crushed his chest, making it impossible to breathe.
He had no motivation to do anything. He did not even go to work for half a month, and he did not visit the hospital to see the
child.
All he did was shut himself inside their home and drink. His parents had tried to talk some sense into him, but he would not
listen.
Elena, unable to sit still any longer, finally lost her patience.
Ignoring the fact that she was still in postpartum recovery, she carried the baby herself and went to see Daniel.
She held the child out to him, hoping that seeing his son would soften his heart. However, Daniel just shoved her away.
The baby, startled awake, burst into loud cries in her arms.
Daniel did not even glance at him. Instead, he glared at Elena with pure venom and spat.
“How dare you show your face in front of me? Do you have any idea how much I want to strangle you right now?”
Elena trembled in fear at his words.
After that, Daniel’s parents rushed to pick up the baby, soothing him with distressed murmurs.
“What’s wrong with you?! Is Abigail really that important? Important enough for you to abandon your own son?”

Elena stood up with tears streaming down her face. “Danny, Abigail is gone. We’re a family now!”
Daniel, whose eyes were bloodshot with fury, cut her off. “Family? With you?”
His voice dropped to a dangerous growl.
“Tell me—what did you put in my drink that night?”

The moment the words left his mouth, Elena’s face turned deathly pale. She opened her mouth, but not a single word came out.
Daniel’s parents, sharp as ever, instantly understood what had happened.
Even so, they did not care. If anything, they were grateful to Elena. Thanks to her, they had a grandson.
His parents tried to persuade him. “The child is already born, what’s the point of holding on to the past? For the sake of the baby,
you should move on and live a good life.”
