Chapter 11

Samuel wanted to leave, but he stopped himself

Instead, he headed to the church hall. As the butler watched him head in, he sighed in relief

Piano music started. Samuel stood on the stage while waiting for Yelena to walk down the aisle so that they could exchange vows

She was smiling brightly while in her wedding dress

For some reason, he suddenly wanted to see how Joy would look in a wedding dress

She was always mischievous and would not wear a traditional white wedding dress. Instead, she would wear a red

room

She would not walk over as slowly as Yelena would, either. Instead, she would stride over to him

Nor would she smile as bashfully as Yelena was. Instead, she would smile brightly and hold onto his arm affectionately

Perhaps he was too immersed in his thoughts, so much so that when the priest asked him whether he was willing to take Yelena as his wife, he said, Yes, I’m willing to take Joy as my wife.”

He still had the microphone in hand, so the speaker spread his voice through the entire hall

The guests were first surprised before they started talking among themselves

Was Joy not the Foster family’s adopted daughter

Why did Samuel say her name

The faces of Samuel’s parents and Yelena’s parents froze

Martha and Francis instinctively looked at him. They became even more anxious. How could Samuel make a blunder during such a crucial moment

Yelena’s parents pulled long faces and wanted an explanation from Martha and Francis

When Yelena heard Samuel say Joy’s name instead, her face turned white. Her fist clenched around her dress

With a quivering voice, she asked, Samuel, what did you just say?”

She instinctively wanted to hold his hand. They were one step away from becoming married

Why would he say Joy’s name?!
