Karen stayed silent throughout the entire journey, with her hands clasped tightly on her lap. She would occasionally fiddle with her phone, looking extremely anxious.
Annie chuckled coldly from the driver’s seat. “You better not be lying to me—I hate it the most when people lie to me. If you’re actually lying to me, regardless of whether you’re the mistress or not, I’ll make you suffer what the mistress would suffer. You’d be regretting it then.”
With the experience from my past life, I had no doubt about the truth behind her words.
Annie truly was a madwoman. She was someone who acted recklessly without regard for the consequences once she settled on the truth.
Having learnt from my past mistakes, I refused to let anyone manipulate me anymore. I gave her a sideways glance without saying a word.
We arrived at the repair shop shortly after. After getting out of the car, I hurriedly led Annie and the others to where William’s car was at.
I let out a sigh of relief when I saw it. I got the mechanic to open the car door and clambered in to pull up the footage from the dashboard camera.
However, what happened next was beyond my expectations
The dashboard camera footage was completely blank. Someone managed to delete it without anyone noticing.
My mind went blank as I stood frozen in place, unable to react.
It was as if Karen expected this to happen. She suddenly came closer to me, gleefully laughing as she asked, ” What’s wrong? Why aren’t you playing the footage? Don’t tell me there’s nothing for you to show.”
I suddenly realized what happened after seeing her smug expression.
No wonder Karen didn’t react like usual as soon as we arrived at the repair shop. This was the reason she didn’t stop me from checking the dashboard camera!
I should’ve known that she alerted Wilbur when she fiddled with her phone in the car. The two were just perfect partners in crime.
I stared at Karen hard, and she met my gaze without fear, looking beyond smug.
