Theo grabbed him by the collar and forcefully dragged him away from the driver’s seat
The hospital was right across the street. I followed them as they stepped into the morgue.
The moment Joel appeared, Sofia trembled with rage and slapped him twice, hard.
Several of our mutual friends stood nearby, all glaring at him in fury. No one stepped in to stop her.
At that moment, a lump formed in my throat.
After my parents passed away, I thought that no one would care if I died.
I never expected there to still be people who mourned me.
Sofia grabbed Joel by the collar, forcing him to look at my cold, lifeless body. Her voice was hoarse and filled with despair as she screamed, “It’s been three days! Where the hell have you been? Aurora has been lying here all alone. Where the hell were you?”
Shame filled his face. He couldn’t utter a single word. He dropped to his knees, tears falling silently.
Unwilling to let it go, Sofia yanked his head up, forcing him to meet her gaze.
She kept demanding an answer, grief consuming her whole.

Eileen stepped forward and sneered, speaking the truth Joel was too ashamed to admit.

“These past three days, Mr. Xander has been busy cuddling up with his mistress–so busy that he couldn’t even make time for his
wife’s funeral.”
She leaned in close to him, deliberately sniffing the air before scoffing. “How considerate of you! That sweet scent–did you buy a
cake for your mistress?”
Sofia’s legs nearly gave out when she heard this, and she almost fainted.
She clutched Joel’s collar with trembling hands, her voice breaking as she questioned him, “Aurora lost her leg and bled to death
-because of you! She just died, and you’re already off with another woman. Are you even human?
“How did I give birth to such a monster? I’ve failed Aurora–I’ve failed her so terribly!”
For the first time, Joel’s face twisted in terror and despair. He stammered, “L… I didn’t know she had a blood clotting disorder… I
thought she would be fine…”
Furious, Eileen raised her hand and slapped him again.
“What do you know? As Aurora’s husband, do you know anything about her? Tell me!”
He
e was left speechless.
We had been married for years, yet he had never once tried to understand me or cared about my well–being.
To him, I was just a tool to keep his household running–a transparent, insignificant existence.
His body trembled as he staggered forward, still unwilling to accept the truth.
He collapsed onto my lifeless body, muttering, “Arie can’t be dead. This has to be a trick. How could a small injury like that kill her? I’ve rescued so many people with far worse injuries… My judgment couldn’t have been wrong. You must all be lying to me..
As he spoke, he ignored everyone’s protests and reached out to pull back the white sheet covering me.
