The Evidence
Scarlett’s POV:
Bobby’s insistent barking echoed through the cave as he nudged the wooden box in Lucian’s hands. His tail wagged urgently, pushing my mate to open it.
Through our bond, I felt Lucian’s heart pounding with dread. His fingers trembled as they traced the box’s weathered edges.
“What more did you leave for me?” he whispered to my lifeless form. “What other truths will break me?”
With shaking hands, he finally lifted the lid. The moment his eyes fell on the contents, his face went ghostly white.
Photographs cascaded out, scattering across the cave floor like evidence of his sins. Each one captured a moment of his betrayal in perfect, damning detail.
“No,
,” he breathed, but his hands moved on their own, picking up photo after photo.
The first showed him with Lily at La Rose, that expensive French restaurant downtown. She sat in his lap, his fingers tenderly feeding her chocolate cake. The intimacy of the gesture made him flinch – he’d never even taken me to that restaurant.
His hands begin to shake as he picks up the next picture. It showed Lily hanging from his arm as they left the hospital together, date–stamped to the day I was admitted due to heart problems. Their fingers were intertwined as they walked quietly towards the woods.
“Stop,” he begged himself, but he couldn’t look away
The next photo captured them in those woods, Lily’s skirt lifted up to her waist as she leaned naked against a tree, her legs wrapped around him, her expression lascivious. And Lucian’s c**k was deep
from inside her, mesmerized. At this very moment, I was lying in a hospital bed, only a few yards away them, breathing hard.
Blood began to drip from his mouth as he retched, but still he forced himself to look.
More photos spilled out: them in his car outside Pack Hall, windows steamed with their passion. The timestamp showed our fifth anniversary – when he’d claimed to be working late.
Another photo showed them in his office, Lilly half–naked and draped in his shirt riding on top of him. The chair that had hosted me countless times, the chair where he used to hold me while I handled official business and refused to let me down.
In the last photo, he and Lily were naked and entwined on the bed, Lily lay misty–eyed beneath him, her teeth gently biting the back of her hand, and on her finger, the wedding ring he’d given me was glowing brightly.
“I’m sorry,” he choked out, but the photos kept coming.
There they were in our bed – OUR bed – where I’d slept alone so many nights while he claimed to be handling “pack business.” Lily’s red lipstick stained our white sheets as she arched beneath him.
Through our bond, I felt the exact moment his control shattered. His eyes blazed completely red as

The Evidence
Alpha power exploded from him in waves.
#25 BONUS
The cave walls shook violently. Rocks began falling from the celling, but he made no move to dodge them. Each impact was a punishment he craved. The rock hit his forehead and blood flowed out.
The next photo showed them in the Pack Hall kitchen lly bent over the very counter where I’d spent hours cooking his favorite meals. Her smug smile seemed to mock my devotion.
His hands shook so badly he could barely hold the photos now. Blood dripped steadily from his mouth as he forced himself to face each one.
“I killed you,” he whispered to my corpse: “Not just with my betrayal, but with my cruelty.”
He dropped to his knees before my body, his forehead hitting the ground hard as he kowtowed.
“Please forgive me,” he begged between prostrations, smearing blood across the cave floor. “I’m such an asshole… Please… I didn’t understand what I was destroying…”
But he had understood. Each photo proved he’d known exactly what he was doing
Bobby whined softly, pushing something else toward Him – my cell phone from the bottom of the box.
Lucian’s bloody hands picked it up like it was made of glass. The phone was actually still charged, and Lucian turned it on and entered my birthday as the password without hesitation.
Of course it didn’t successfully unlock. His eyes widened. His hands began to shake violently once more, causing him to press his birthday several times over before he could enter it correctly.
The phone was immediately unlocked, a fact that left him shaking and in tears once again. My cell phone password had always been his birthday, but apparently he hadn’t thought that even after I found out about his betrayal so many times, and even after I faced death all alone by myself, I still hadn’t changed the password, and, as I wrote in my letter, I hadn’t stopped loving him even in death.
“Lottie,” he sobbed, using my childhood nickname. “My faithful, loving Lottie…”
His trembling fingers opened my messages, and horror dawned in his eyes at what he found. His Alpha power crackled uncontrollably, bringing down more rocks from above.
Bobby pressed against his side, but nothing could comfort him now. Nothing could ease the weight of the truth he was finally facing.
I laughed and laughed hard. After all the buildup, this was the truth that I was finally going to let him know. This was what would be my revenge.
That information is what I wanted to tell him – it was the malicious provocation of his cheating partner that aggravated my condition. It was his inability to control his lower body that gave someone else a chance. It was the two of them who teamed up to drive me to my death.
Why should the two of them be thick as thieves, wanting their old flame to break the ice, while I lose everything until I lose my life. I won’t let him have a single possibility of happiness.
