No Second Chances
Scarlett’s POV:
Helena stepped forward, her ancient eyes measuring me intently. Her wrinkled hands reached for my face, my arms, my chest where dark blood had been strewn.
“Fascinating,” she murmured. Rarely has an Alpha power transfer been so successful… Hmm? What is it?”
“What do you mean?” I asked, feeling Zoe stir within me.
“Your wolf, before your wolf was suppressed by some force, now she’s awake and bigger than before, it’s amazing, it’s something that hasn’t happened before Helena looked at me with delight
I nodded, feeling Zoe’s satisfaction ripple through our shared consciousness.
“Then you are more than you were,” Helena stepped back with something like respect in her eyes. ” Much more.”
Lucian lunged for my hand the moment Helena stepped aside. His fingers trembled as they reached for me, desperate to confirm I was real.
He tightly grasped my hand, “Lotti, my goodness, it’s true, it’s really alive.”
His touch made nausea wash over me, and I immediately shook off his hand, which would have been impossible before. But now the Alpha power flowing through me easily broke his control.
‘Show him what you are now,‘ Zoe whispered in my mind. ‘Let him feel our strength.”
Lucian stumbled back, shock evident on his face. His own strength was gone, given to me in his desperate bid to bring me back.
“Lottie,” he whispered, reaching for me again. “My sweet Lottie…”
“Lucian, Don’t call me that,” I snapped, feeling my face twist with revulsion.
“What?” His hand froze mid–reach, confusion clouding his features.
“That name,” I said coldly. “It makes me sick. Just like you make me sick.”
Through our weakened bond, I felt his heart shatter at my words.
“But you love me,” he stammered. “You’ve been so good to me.You’ve always loved me. All those letters. you wrote-”
“Were written by a woman you killed,” I cut him off. “She died watching you betray her over and over.”
“I made mistakes,” he admitted, voice cracking. “Terrible mistakes. But I’ve changed. Look what I gave up for you-
“For me?” I laughed bitterly. “Or for your guilty conscience?”
His face paled, but he quickly reached into his pocket. The billion–dollar ring emerged, its moonstone still glowing with healing magic.

“Please,” he dropped to his knees, holding it up. “Take it back. It was always meant for you.”
“You mean after Lily wore It?” Another cold laugh escaped me. “I don’t want anything that whore has touched.”
“I was blind then,” he pleaded. “I didn’t understand low sick you were. If I’d known the ring was keeping you alive-”
“You’d what?” I asked mockingly. “Chosen me over her? We both know that’s a lie.”
He tossed the priceless ring aside without hesitation. Then I’ll make you a new one. Better than before. Anything you want-”
“I don’t want anything from you,” I said, turning away. “Not rings, not apologies, nothing.”
“Wait!” He scrambled to his feet. “Please, let me explain. Let me tell you everything-
–
“Everything?” I raised an eyebrow. “Like how good Lily was in bed? How much you enjoyed her while I was dying?”
His face crumpled. “It wasn’t like that. I was just trying to hurt her-”
“By fucking her in our bed?” I asked coldly. “By leaving me alone on our anniversary to be with her?”
“I was wrong,” he whispered. “So wrong. But I’ve puhished her for what she did to you-”
“What she did?” I laughed. “You mean what you both did? Or did she force you into her bed?”
Tears streamed down his face. “I was weak. Stupid. Blinded by old hurts-”
“Save your excuses,” I cut him off. “I’m going back to the pack.”
His hand shot out to grab my wrist, but I easily broke his grip. The Alpha power made him feel as weak as
a pup.
“You can’t leave,” he begged. “I just got you back. I gave up everything-”
“Your power?” I smiled coldly. “Thank you for that. It will be very useful.”
“That’s not what I meant!” His voice cracked with desperation. “I love you. I’ve always loved you. Everything else was just… just madness.”
“Madness?” I turned to face him fully, “Is that what you call betrayal now?”
He fell to his knees again, reaching for my hand. “Please, Lottie-”
“I told you not to call me that,” I jerked away from his touch.
“Scarlett,” he corrected quickly. “My love, my mate, please
“I’m not your anything anymore,” I said quietly. “You made sure of that when you chose her.”
“I never chose her!” He protested. “She meant nothing! She was just… just revenge.
“And I was just collateral damage?” I asked coldly. “Just an inconvenient wife who got in the way of your revenge?Haven’t you noticed? We don’t have a mate bond.”

“No!” He clutched his chest where our mate bond used to burn strong. “You were everything. You are everything. I’ll spend the rest of my life proving it if you’ll just give me a chance”
“A chance to what?” I stepped back from his kneeling form. “To hurt me again? To find another woman to warm your bed?”
“Never,” he vowed. “I’ll never look at another woman, I’ll be faithful until my dying breath
“Like you promised before?” I reminded him. “When you swore to love only me?”
His shoulders slumped in defeat. “I know I don’t deserve forgiveness. But please… please don’t leave me.
“I’m going back to the pack,” I repeated firmly.
