“Eight million dollars!”
Just when I thought nobody was going to top that, a familiar voice suddenly sounded somewhere from the audience, “I will bid ten million dollars for them.”
As soon as the speaker was done speaking, the whole auction hall erupted into gasps and murmurs.
Even Liam never expected that these plain wedding bands would be able to fetch such a high price.
“Ten million dollars! Going once, going twice… Sold! Congratulations to the CEO of Nolan Group for purchasing these beautiful wedding rings that symbolize true love and happiness!”
I saw a familiar figure among the crowd. He had stood up, looking more resolute and mature than I’d ever seen before.
It had to be a coincidence… Right?

I walked out of the auction hall with Marley next to me. We were surrounded by a whole fleet of flashy, luxurious cars, and ours stuck out like a sore thumb.
I kept tugging at Marley’s sleeve, urging him to hurry. He seemed to have detected my unease and asked me, “Luna, why are you looking so anxious?”
Just as he was done asking, I saw Archer standing in front of me. He was still holding the pair of plain wedding bands in his hand that he’d just purchased.
I opened my mouth, but nothing came out, even after a long while.
Meanwhile, Marley didn’t seem the least bit afraid. Maybe it was his intuition, but he managed to sense danger. So, he asked Archer in a stern, unfriendly voice, “Hello. What do you
want?”
Archer looked uneasy. I guessed that he noticed Marley’s hand on my shoulder.
“Your new boyfriend?” Archer asked carefully.
However, these three words seemed to immediately ignite Marley’s wrath. “What’s your relationship with Luna? Are you that jerk of an ex–husband who made her abort her baby?”
I gently held Marley’s hand and patted him comfortingly.
“Is there anything I can help you with, Mr. Nolan?” I asked.
This was the first time I greeted Archer in two years. I could see that he no longer looked at me with ridicule like in the past. Instead, his eyes seemed tired and weary.
Archer carefully handed me the pair of rings in his hand and said, “I wish you both happiness.”
Then, he left without even looking back.
