Back then, Callista had smiled warmly, but her tone was serious. “I’m easy to please because I still love you. The day I stop loving you, I won’t spare you a glance even if you die right in front of me.”
Her words had come true. She had left him so decisively and would never come back.
Suddenly, his phone rang. It was Kai. Luther ignored it.
The phone rang again and again, but Luther refused to answer. Eventually, the ringing stopped, only for the sound

of knocking to follow soon after.
“Mr. Spencer, Mrs. Spencer’s brother is here,” someone called out from behind the door.
Luther carefully wiped the table clean and pressed his hand against his bleeding head as he walked out. He was careful not to let any blood stain the room.
In the living room, Kai burst free from the housekeeper’s hold and stormed toward him. He grabbed him by the collar.
“Luther, where’s Cally? Why are they saying she’s missing Where did you take her?” Kai roared.
Luther could only let out a chuckle at this.
Kai’s veins bulged with fury. “Answer me! If you hurt her, I swear I’ll kill you! Do you hear me?”
“She left,” Luther said while prying Kai’s hands off.
“She doesn’t want me, and she doesn’t want you either. We’re both nothing to her now.”
“Shut the hell up, Luther Spencer! What nonsense are you spouting? I’ll-”
“You know exactly what you did, don’t you?” Luther interrupted.
Kai’s pupils dilated. Of course, he knew.
Cally hadn’t been able to conceive for five years, and the chances of her having a child in the future were slim to
none.
Coming from a family as prominent as the Spencers, Luther would never give up on having children.
Kai had thought it would be a win–win solution. They could let Wren bear the child, then give it to Cally to raise so she wouldn’t have to endure the pain of IVF treatment again.
For a long time, he believed it was the perfect plan.
Seeing Kai’s panicked expression, Luther laughed bitterly.
“Whatever you did, Cally knows now.”
